My Answers (DWCOON) to the May 2014 MI10Q

  1. What am I doing to improve myself and my life?
I am always learning something new, at least a little something new everyday. Playing, practicing, listening to and coloring/transcribing classical piano sheet music. I'm always learning new French, learning more history and science, consciously watching the news so I am an intelligent and informed citizen. I am always learning general knowledge and becoming a better, smarter, wiser person.
STO (service to others) whenever possible.

  1. What have I done to improve myself and my life?
I've earned a BA (Bachelors of Arts College Degree) – what I think is a respectable education. I am an USMC Afghanistan War veteran - what amounts to incredibly valuable experience.
I have my own apartment – GF W88.
I have a stable part-time job.

  1. What else should I be doing?
Apply for more jobs!! Fill out more applications and turn in more resumes. Follow up will all jobs I have already applied to. FOLLOW UP 24 hours after turning in app.
Start exercising regularly. Go running. Set up run date with LCPL W Taylor.
Find new students, beginner piano students and ESL students. Start teaching again – make money and accomplish STO and good karma.

  1. What should I stop doing?
Negative thinking
smoking cigs
MJ
wasting money
being lazy
being complacent (oblivious)
complaining
dwelling on the past
regretting mistakes
repeating mistakes
letting other people make decisions for me

  1. What can I do?
I can build a stable life.
I can live a happy and meaningful life.
I can earn consistent income.
I can work hard. I can do my best.
I can take care of myself.
I can be independent.
I can be a responsible adult and a contributing member of society.

I can teach people practical and useful knowledge that will improve and enrich their lives

I can try my best to improve the world
I can always be a good, honest person

  1. What can't I do?
I can't fix society
I can't change laws
I can't help everyone
I can't live the happiest possible life without my medication – MJ and RIT
I can't please everyone
I can't follow the laws the don't make sense to me (stupid, outdated, senseless laws that don't violate the harm principle)
I can't relay on anyone but myself
I can't blame anyone but myself
I can't change everyone to be like myself
I can't be responsible to educate everyone
I can't change the world, accept it for how it is, accept the true reality, learn from it and always try to do better next time.


  1. What would I do differently next time?
Very important question. I need to, am going to, will do every time from now on, ask myself this question after every situation, both successful endeavors and miserable failures. I idea is to learn from every experience, always becoming a better and stronger person as a result of failures. Don't make the same mistakes over and over again.
Hard learned life lessons greatly increase appreciating for life. Sad shit happens, bad lucks strikes, down periods, low optimistic future outlook, tough times. Misfortune and hard times befalls everyone. But if useful experiences comes out of the rough times, it makes it all worth it in the end. Things get better.
Experience turns into wisdom overtime.
Becoming and being a responsible adult takes times.
Maturation takes a lifetime.

  1. What one thing would help me the most?
Reliable, stable & meaningful employment. A decent and respectable job would change my life more than anything else. A good job would give me the income that I need to support myself. Aswell as give me purpose and something to do. A good honest job is the one thing that would improve my life more than anything else.
Focus full attention on finding full time employment.
Dedicate hours of my free time to searching/researching and applying for jobs.
Keep job log on my job blog. Note employers names, date applied and comments. Schedule a 24 and 48 hour follow-up. Schedule follow up into calendar so I don't forget.
Income grants me independence, freedom and opportunities.
Income will greatly improve the quality of my life.

  1. What do I want to do?
I want to make a meaningful difference. I want to make a valuable contribution to society and to my community. I want to at least attempt to improve society for posterity. I will make real efforts to encourage and promote positive change.
As a sociologist, I will make every attempt to accurately identify the most serious societal problems, spread awareness of the truth, suggest needed reforms and practical solutions.

  1. What kind of life do I want to live?

I want a stable meaningful job. I want to own my own home. I want to publish my piano book and be a published author. I want to be a successful teacher and a meaningful respected addition to the lives of the people in my life. I am meant to do something good for this world.
